Claire doesn’t say a great deal about herself. She is in fact one of a few people who can point to a genuine ‘first’ in their life.
In Claire's case she was the first solo woman Overland Truck Expedition leader driving from London to Cameroon.
In real terms this means that she drove the truck on the worst roads in the world, looking after up to 20 passengers, fixed the truck when it all went wrong, while maintaining a cheerful attitude when dealing with border guards with nothing to do and itchy trigger fingers (Note the photos attached to this profile). An avid traveller, Claire drove professionally in Africa, Central Asia, India, China, Russia and the Middle East for 8 years.
She returned to Christchurch looking to sleep in a normal bed for a change and has picked up her family's interest in motor sport and manages the lap scoring at Woodford Glen Speedway. She is a Canterbury, Crusaders and All Black fan.
Claire is a confessed petrol head and her main complaint with her work as Funeral Director at CCFS is that we do not have a Holden hearse and that she is a lone GM voice in a field of Fords. Claire’s warmth and unflappable manner are making her a favourite both within the CCFS team and with her client families.
