Mark Johnson

Funeral Director

Mark, like many from the “other” part of New Zealand fancies himself as an amateur All Black selector.

Ironically he is a Southland supporter having spent many formative years amongst the Deep Southerners, although he tells us that Winners are Grinners (it must be pointed out that one Shield victory a dynasty does not make!)

He joined the NZ Army in 1995, serving in East Timor and Afghanistan then transferred into the RNZAF in 2003 serving in the Persian Gulf. He left the services in 2007 and shortly there after joined CCFS for his current tour of duty.

Mark brings a wealth of experience and information regarding military protocol and ceremony which is a big help when he helps families of Veterans and Returned Servicemen and women.

He is a pet lover and Jack his Golden retriever, is of pedigree stock and even has a Southland supporter jersey to match- (the SPCA are currently investigating this cruel and unusual punishment). Known for his warmth, organisational skills and flexibility Mark has made a real impact in funeral directing and is a big asset to the team.
