Simon Lyford

Operations Manager

After qualifying as an Embalmer in 1991 Simon attained a position with John Rhind Funeral Directors in Christchurch. This was the first time that Simon had stepped onto the Mainland and it seemed to precipitate great things as he straight away met Trudy (and subsequently convinced her to marry him).

A self-confessed naturalised Southerner, he now has a brilliant excuse not to return to the hustle and bustle of the North.

After 15 years at Rhinds he left to work for Baldwin’s Furniture in their casket manufacturing division and whilst there, help developed the eco casket available at CCFS. Simon did however, miss the personal contact he enjoys as a Funeral Director and after 2 years took up a role with the New Zealand Customs Service at Christchurch International Airport.

The call of Funeral Directing was still too strong and in 2008 he came back into the industry as the Operations Manager for CCFS.

Simon is active in his community as a member of the Brooklands Volunteer Fire Brigade and a new member of the Belfast Bowling Club. He enjoys “Huntin, Fishin and Shootin” and loves nothing more than to spend some time waist deep in a local stream after a few juvenile inanga! He lives in Brooklands with his family ensuring easy access to the Waimakariri and local whitebait streams!
