The sooner families contact a funeral director the sooner we can begin to take care of the multitude of details that are involved. You will find it comforting to know that you have someone experienced and willing to assist you along this journey.
It is important to remember that we are on-call 24 hours a day for families and that we are always available even if only to answer questions. No matter when a death occurs, whether during the day or during the night, we are able to guide you and explain the steps from here.
We will need to arrange a time to meet with family members where the arrangements around the funeral service can be discussed. This meeting is usually done at a convenient time for all your family (when you have gathered together) and can be done at your family home or in our office.
Prior to meeting with one of our Funeral Directors, we suggest as a family, you all discuss your ideas for the service and establish if your loved one had any special requests. It can be useful to locate important documents like marriage certificates, birth certificates, a will and any pre-arranged funeral details.
The funeral arrangement meeting will last approximately 1-2 hours depending on individual requests and may be done over several days as arrangements are confirmed and/or changed.
Here is a simple checklist to cover some of the immediate aspects / questions of a typical funeral. Use this as a simple guide and then we can discuss your requirements in more depth:
